He takes over the post of managing director from Berthold Witting, who has been appointed to the Ministry of the Interior of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.<\/p>\n<p>Transport Minister Reinhard Meyer welcomes Daniel Bischof in his new position and wishes the 39-year-old a happy hand in his new task: \"Every year, 25 to 26 million passengers use the trains in the north-east. Statistically, every person in Mecklenburg and Vorpommern takes the train more than fifteen times a year. This is already a pleasing result, but it can and must continue to grow if we want to achieve our climate goals. Mr Bischof, as a proven expert, should set the necessary course for this and bring public transport in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern further forward,\" says Reinhard Meyer, Minister for Economic Affairs, Infrastructure, Tourism and Labour.<\/p>\n<p>Daniel Bischof has previously worked as an authorised signatory and head of department for internal administration, organisation, transport management and digitalisation at VMV. \"During his time at VMV, he decisively promoted the introduction of the state-wide tariff offer \"AzubiTicket MV\" in the state. All bus and rail companies in the state had to be involved in this,\" emphasises Meyer. \"It is particularly important to take on the 'clamp function' between rail and bus companies in the state and to think about and implement cross-modal offers against the background of the Deutschlandticket. I wish Mr Bischof and his team every success in this endeavour,\" says Meyer.<\/p>\n<p>\"Local public transport in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is also facing great challenges. Both the introduction of the Deutschlandticket and the shift towards climate-friendly services of general interest in transport will make it necessary to adapt structures and services in many areas. Here, it is important to work even more closely with all partners across all modes of transport in order to provide customers with an attractive and economical range of services throughout the state,\" says the new VMV managing director.<\/p>\n<p>Bishop, who was born in Mecklenburg, began his professional career in 2009 in Magdeburg at the foundation of the marego transport association after graduating with a degree in transport economics from the Technical University of Dresden. After moving to Hamburg in 2010, where he worked as a management officer for \"port railway\" and head of railway development at the Hamburg Port Authority A\u00f6R, he returned to his home country in 2015 and worked as a railway officer in the then Ministry of Energy.
