K\u00fchlungsborn\/Borkum, 21.09.2023 <\/strong>After a few test runs on the Molli rail network, the official opening run of the Borkumer Kleinbahn will take place today with invited guests from the Borkumer Kleinbahn, the Molli and the VMV-Verkehrsgesellschaft Mecklenburg-Vorpommern before public journeys start from 22 September. The T1 railcar, also known as the Schweineschn\u00e4uzchen, has covered more than 500 km and will now be on the rail network of Mecklenburgische B\u00e4derbahn Molli GmbH for 10 days from 21 September to 01 October 2023.<\/p>\n

The last time a Molli locomotive visited Borkum was in 2019. With the visit of the rail bus to the Molli, the return visit is now taking place. This is only possible because both the Molli and the Borkumer Kleinbahn have the same rare 900 mm gauge. Placed on a low-loader, the little pig's nose completed the journey from the North Sea island of Borkum to the Baltic Sea resort of K\u00fchlungsborn, where it was unloaded by means of a lifting jack and placed on the rails of the Mecklenburgische B\u00e4derbahn Molli. During its first days with the Molli, the rail bus underwent numerous test runs so that it could be used in regular service from now on.<\/p>\n

Up to four trips are to be offered daily with the rail bus until 01 October. \"We have already sold more than two thirds of the tickets,\" Molli Managing Director Michael Mi\u00dflitz proudly reports, \"so anyone who still wants tickets should buy some soon.\" Due to the limited number of seats (only 35), tickets are only available in the online shop of the Mecklenburgische B\u00e4derbahn Molli and in the customer centre at K\u00fchlungsborn West station. The daily outward and return journeys will also depart from there.<\/p>\n

As a highlight of the visit, a five-train operation will take place on 23 September parallel to the station festival in K\u00fchlungsborn West for the first time in the history of the Molli. The two regular trains, the Centenary Train and the goods train of the Mecklenburg B\u00e4derbahn as well as the Borkum railcar will be running on the route along the Baltic Sea coast. And on the grounds of K\u00fchlungsborn West station there will also be a colourful programme for young and old as part of the station festival, including live music, a children's railway, delicious gastronomic offerings and a locomotive parade in the evening, where the four different Molli locomotives and the guest from Borkum will present themselves.<\/p>\n
